The UN Global Compact is inviting applications and nominations of business leaders who are doing an exceptional job to advance the Global Goals through implementing UN Global Impact’s 10 Principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. These should be individuals working at any level in a company, who are helping to reach 1 or more of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while also contributing to business success. They could be doing this through their own company or by mobilizing other businesses. Applicants and nominees have to submit their sustainability stories to be considered as a 2019 SDG Pioneer.

Earlier this year, Global Compact Local Networks in several countries hosted national-level SDG Pioneers programmes. These winners will automatically take part in the global round along with other candidates.

The 2019 UN Global Compact SDG Pioneers will be recognized and celebrated during the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York in September 2019. They will receive visibility and be recognized for the great work that they have done to advance the Sustainable Development Goals.

Only individuals are eligible, and not organizations. Nominees must be working in a UN Global Compact Participant or Signatory company (see the Official Website for eligible organizations and companies).

Those whose companies are not yet participating in the UN Global Compact, may join UN Global Compact (see the Official Website on how to join). Self-nominations are accepted.

Young Professionals who are 35 years old or younger, who are working at any level of a UN Global Compact Participant or Signatory company are eligible to apply or be nominated. Nominees and applicants have to be using business as a force for good to advance the Sustainable Development Goals. For the 2019 SDG Pioneers, only companies that have joined the UN Global Compact by 24 September 2018 and have submitted at least 1 Communication on Progress (CoP), are eligible. Companies which join after that date should apply in 2020, for the 2020 SDG Pioneers programme.

Applications are to be done online by 12 July 2019.
