Samsung Engineering is inviting youths around the world to take part in the 12th Eco-generation Environmental Essay Competition. This year’s competition encourages youths to raise awareness on the theme of the 2019 World Environment Day – Beat Air Pollution.
Hosted by China this year, the theme invites all to rethink how they can change their lives to reduce the amount of air pollution that is produced and to stymie global warming and its effects on health. Around 7 million people worldwide die prematurely each year from air pollution with about 4 million of these deaths occurring in Asia-Pacific.
Eco-generation is inviting Tunza Eco-generation members around the world to show their desire to act on “Beat Air Pollution” for future generations by submitting essays containing inspiring and creative stories on why air pollution should be reduced, giving due consideration to its causes, effects, and consequences. This 12th Samsung Eco-generation Environmental Essay Competition also aims to collect inspiring and creative ideas on why air pollution should be reduced and the diverse ways of combating air pollution.
Winner of the UN Environment Prize will receive an e-Certificate and a Samsung Galaxy Tab S. Two winners of the Samsung Engineering Prize will receive an e-Certificate and a Samsung Galaxy Tab A. There will be 3 winners of the Eco-generation Prize, who will receive e-Certificates and Samsung Galaxy Buds. There will be 20 Honorable Mentions, who will receive e-Certificates.
Entrants have to be youths who are Tunza Eco-generation members, aged between 14 and 24. All entries must be original works, in English, which have not previously been published in professional media. Each essay is to be 800 to 1000 words in length.
Submissions are to be done online by 2 September 2019.
