The University of Glasgow is offering 4 Humanitarian Scholarships for AY 2018/2019, for university applicants who are currently staying in the UK on humanitarian grounds and are facing challenges in progressing onto Higher Education. These scholarships are for undergraduate and postgraduate studies, in any subject, for entry 2018.
There are also 4 scholarships available for those who hold refugee status.
The scholarship for those staying in the UK on humanitarian grounds covers the full cost of tuition fees for the duration of the programme as well as provides an additional £5,000 per year stipend. If the eligibility criteria for university accommodation is met, accommodation will also be provided for the duration of the degree.
The scholarship award for those who are on refugee status is a £5000 per year stipend toward living costs per year of study.
Applicants must hold a conditional or unconditional offer for study at the University of Glasgow for 2018-2019. They must be persons who have submitted, or who are the dependents of someone who has submitted, an application to the Home Office for recognition as a Refugee under the 1951 UN Convention on the Status of Refugees but who have not yet received a decision from the Home Office on that application.
Eligible applicants could also be persons who have been offered leave to remain in the UK on the grounds of Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights or under Paragraphs 276ADE – 276DH of the UK Immigration Rules, provided that they have not become eligible for Student Support from the relevant student funding body in Scotland, England, Wales or Northern Ireland.
Applications are to be sent via email by 31 May 2018 for the Refugee Scholarship and by 30 June 2018 for the Humanitarian Scholarship.
