Description

York University in Canada is making available the following scholarships for international students who wish to apply for undergraduate degree programs at the University commencing Fall/Winter 2020-2021:

  • International Entrance Scholarship of Distinction
  • Global Leader of Tomorrow Award for International Students
  • International Circle of Scholar’s Scholarship
  • York University Academic Excellence Scholarships for International Students.

Benefits

International Entrance Scholarship of Distinction: 3 scholarships are awarded per year, valued at $35,000 per year, and renewable for an additional 3 years of full-time undergraduate study if the student maintains high academic standing each year, bringing it to a total of $140,000 over 4 years.

Global Leader of Tomorrow Award for International Students: 2 scholarships are awarded per year, valued at $20,000 per year. It is renewable for an additional 3 years of full-time undergraduate study if the student maintains high academic standing each year, bringing it to a total of $80,000 over 4 years.

International Circle of Scholar’s Scholarship: 1 scholarship is awarded per year, valued at $15,000, to be used towards a student’s first year of study.

York University Academic Excellence Scholarships for International Students: 5 to 10 scholarships are awarded per year, valued at $5,000 to $10,000, to be used towards a student’s first year of study.

Eligibility

Applicants must be international students who are required to have a Study Permit to study in Canada and who have applied to an undergraduate degree program at York that begins in Fall 2020. They must have an excellent academic record with a minimum “A” average or equivalent and are individuals who have demonstrated leadership through community service or excellence in the arts, sports, or other areas of individual achievement.

They must have applied to York directly from high school no more than 2 years after graduation, with no previous university or college studies. They have to be nominated by their high school – each school can nominate 1 student only. The nominated student will be considered for the International Entrance Scholarship of Distinction, the Global Leader of Tomorrow Award, the International Circle of Scholars Scholarships, and the York University Academic Excellence Scholarships.

Applicants must speak to their school guidance counsellor, principal, or administration about the York International Student Scholarship & Award Application, and receive confirmation that they are the individual from that school who has been nominated. Applicants will have to state the name, position, e-mail, and phone number of the nominator in the application form.

Applications are to be done online by 1 February 2020.
