Description

UNESCO is inviting young social entrepreneurs to take part in the 2018 Youth Citizen Entrepreneurship Competition, by submitting innovative ideas or projects that have a societal impact, and which champion and implement 1 or more of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. There are 2 competition categories: the Best Ideas Category for nnovative ideas and plans to be implemented by the entrant or by others; and the Best Projects Category, which is for already existing enterprises with demonstrated social impact.

Entrants can take the free E-Learning Course and earn to become an entrepreneur. The course is divided into the following sections:

  • Opening the Idea
  • Finding out what really motivates the founder
  • Seven techniques for working out an entrepreneurial design
  • Discover potential in what exists already
  • Function, not convention
  • Recombining what already exists
  • Turning work into fun and entertainment
  • Start-ups with wings

The Grand Prize winners and People’s Choice winners, Second Prize and Third Prize winners, and the Entrepreneurship Campus Prize winners will be announced at a Winners’ Announcement Ceremony at the Entrepreneurship Summit in Berlin in October 2018.

Benefits

Grand Prize, 2nd Prize, 3rd Prize and People’s Choice Prize winners will be selected in each of the 2 categories. Grand Prize winners and the People’s Choice Prize winners will receive a virtual Gold Badge and a Certificate. Second Prize winners will receive a virtual Silver Badge and a Certificate. Third Prize winners will receive a virtual Bronze Badge and a Certificate. Finalists not chosen as prize winners will receive an Honorable Mention Badge. Entrepreneurship Campus Prize winners (those who have demonstrated outstanding ‘entrepreneurship spirit’ by actively taking part in the Entrepreneurship Campus) will receive a Certificate Campus Prize Winner Badge.

Eligibility

Only youths between the ages of 15 and 35 are eligible. They must have an innovative idea for an enterprise which contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) or are operating such an enterprise in the form of a business, a non-profit organization or an informal program. All entries must be in English.

Application

Entries are to be submitted online by 31 July 2018.
