The United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) has an opening for an Intern – Communications and Social Media at UNSSC’s headquarters in Turin, Italy. The paid internship is for 6 months starting September 2019.
The intern’s duties are:
- Updating social media platforms regularly with platform-specific content;
- Drafting communication materials including mailers, newsletters and web content;
- Supporting the execution of communication campaigns, events and other outreach activities;
- Assisting in drafting press releases, speeches and articles;
- Assisting with research and providing substantive and administrative assistance as required, as well as other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
The intern will receive a stipend of €450 per month.
UNSSC will facilitate the process of obtaining entry visas but the intern has to be responsible for making travel and accommodation arrangements himself/herself, including obtaining visa. He/she also has to ensure that all the prescribed vaccinations are secured, and to obtain medical insurance coverage. The cost of travel, visa, accommodation, vaccines, health insurance and living expenses is the responsibility of the intern.
Applicants must be either enrolled in a Masters or PhD programme, or in the final year of a Bachelors programme, or are within 1 year after graduation from a Bachelors, Masters or PhD programme, in communications, public relations, languages, journalism or a related field.
Previous work experience is not required but experience in the field of communications and public relations and experience working with professional social media platforms are considered assets. Knowledge of the UN is an advantage. Proficiency in English is required, with knowledge of Italian preferred. They need to have excellent computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite.
