Type of Funding
The International Development House (IDHouse) is inviting young worldchangers from around the world to participate in UNITE 2030, a virtual, 2-day hackathon for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The theme for the 2018 Hackathon is “Uniting Youth for Equality.” UNITE 2030 will take place on 7 and 8 April 2018, when participants will gather virtually for a 48-hour competition to tackle the following SDGs:
- SDG 1: No Poverty
- SDG 2: Zero Hunger
- SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being
- SDG 4: Quality Education
- SDG 5: Gender Equality and
- SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
Participants will be divided into teams of 4-5 based on the social issues that they are passionate about and the teams will be given a global challenge that they must solve within a certain time frame. Throughout the 48 hours, Worldchangers will watch workshops hosted by world-class experts and work closely with their team to address the challenge and to present their solutions.
The Winner of the hackathon will take home the title of UNITE 2030 Global Champions 2018. Prizes for winning UNITE 2030 will be announced closer to the event.
As this is a virtual event, participants do not need to travel to any location. Winners will be announced on Facebook Live the following day.
Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old, be fluent in English and have access to a computer (with a working microphone and speakers) for the duration of the event. They must have access to strong WiFi and possess a passion for global change and a willingness to learn.
Early bird applications to earn the early bird discount for the registration fee, are to be done online by 18 February 2018. General applications are to be done online by 28 March 2018.
