The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) is recruiting Programme Interns and an Infrastructure and Project Management (IPM) Intern.
Programme Interns will work for Cities Alliance, a global partnership for the promotion of cities in poverty reduction and sustainable development. The Cities Alliance Secretariat is recruiting for multiple internship positions and interns will be members of project teams, participate in meetings, support specific exercises and provide assistance to meet business needs. Interns may be expected to travel for specific events. They will work under the guidance of a Task Manager. They will be stationed in Brussels, Belgium, for 6 months, with possible extension up to 12 months.
The Infrastructure and Project Management (IPM) Intern The main support areas will be in research, technical content development through co-ordination, technical reviewer, as well as in communication and administration tasks. The intern will provide support in the following areas: research and analysis coordination; technical; and administrative and communication. The intern will be stationed in Copenhagen, Denmark for a period of 6 months, commencing September 2018, with extension possible up to 12 months.
Programme Interns may be eligible for a monthly stipend from UNOPS provided they do not receive funds from other institutions. The IPM Intern may be eligible for a monthly stipend of US$1,100 from UNOPS provided they do not receive funds from other institutions. All interns may also receive a one time travel lumpsum of US$500. But interns must make their own arrangements for accommodation, travel and necessary visa arrangements.
This internship is not meant to lead to a staff position with UNOPS.
Programme Interns: Applicants must be enrolled in a university program such as Bachelors or Masters Degree or PhD program (or equivalent); or have graduated from such studies within 3 years before the application date of the internship. Their area of study and interest should preferably be: Urban Studies, Business Administration, Development Studies, Economics, Finance, Social Sciences, Political Science, Communications/Journalism, or related fields. They do not need to have professional work experience but some international work experience and exposure are desirable. Fluency in English is required, with a working knowledge of French highly desirable.
Infrastructure and Project Management (IPM) Intern: Applicants should preferably have a background in infrastructure (engineering and architecture) and/or project management; and are individuals who are extremely structured, organized and detail-oriented, as well as possessing the ability to communicate complex ideas well. Completion of secondary school or equivalent is required. They must be currently enrolled in, or have recently completed within the last 3 years, a Bachelors or Masters Degree in a relevant area, preferably in Project Management, Development Studies, International Development, International Relations, Engineering, Architecture and Planning, Construction Management or any relevant experience. Fluency in English is required, with knowledge of French and/or Spanish an asset.
