TWAS Grants for Scientific Meetings held in Developing Countries 742 views

Type of Funding

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) provides grants to organizers of high-level international and regional scientific activities in developing countries. Grants are given for conferences, workshops, symposia and special meetings in the following fields of natural sciences: agricultural, biological, chemical, engineering, geological and medical sciences.

The grants are normally provided in the form of travel grants for principal speakers from abroad and/or participants from developing countries other than the country where the meeting is held. The amount usually does not exceed US$5,000 and is intended for the purchase of air tickets.

TWAS only considers applications made by organizers of international and regional scientific meetings in developing countries. TWAS does not provide support to individual scientists wishing to attend a scientific event, even if the event is taking place in a developing country. Special consideration will be given to meetings that benefit the scientific community in developing countries and promote regional and international cooperation in science, technology and innovation and their applications to real-world problems.

The application form can be downloaded online and the completed form must be sent via email by 31 July 2016 for meetings to be held in 2017.
