The University of London invites, in particular, nationals from low and middle-income countries, who wish to pursue the MA in Refugee Protection and Forced Migration Studies by distance learning commencing October 2019, to apply for the Guy S. Goodwin-Gill Scholarships.

The scholarship is tuition fee waiver for the 2-year part-time distance learning MA programme, which amounts to £8220. The scholarship does not cover examination centre costs and any other costs not directly payable to the University (such as the purchase of additional materials or electronic equipment), re-submission fees, payment of further elective modules if the student decides to transfer, or any other fees not covered above.

Applicants for the MA in Refugee Protection and Forced Migration Studies programme must have an undergraduate degree (e.g. Bachelors) that is comparable to a UK upper second class honours degree. Those without such a degree may still apply. Applicants must have a high degree of English proficiency. Those who have achieved the following within the past 3 years are considered to be sufficiently proficient: an overall score of at least 7.0 with at least 6 in reading and writing, in IELTS (International English Language Testing System). Tests from other providers will be considered on an individual basis.

Applicants need to have minimum basic computer requirements. They will also need Adobe Flash Player to view video material and a media player (such as VLC) to play video files.

Guy S. Goodwin-Gill:

Preference will be given to applicants who are nationals of and residing in low and middle-income countries (see the World Bank website for a list of these countries).

Applicants for the scholarship must have an offer for a place on the MA in Refugee Protection and Forced Migration Studies by distance learning programme for the October 2019 intake, as well as demonstrate outstanding academic merit or potential in this field of study, as evidenced by past achievements. They have to show that they will be unable to take up the offer of a place on the MA in Refugee Protection and Forced Migration Studies due to financial circumstances.

Students currently studying for a University of London award are ineligible for this scholarship.

Applications are to be submitted via email by 19 August 2019 for the Guy S. Goodwin-Gill Scholarship.
