Type of Funding
The Taiwan Foundation for Democracy (TFD) is inviting nominations for the for the 14th (2019) Asia Democracy and Human Rights Award (ADHRA), which annually recognises 1 individual or organization that has made significant contributions to the advancement of democracy or human rights in Asia through peaceful means. The Taiwan Foundation for Democracy is committed to supporting courageous individuals and groups who build democracy, stand up for justice and defend human rights.
The Laureate will receive a sculpture and a US$100,000 grant from the TFD to support his/her/its ongoing work, at an official ceremony in Taipei on International Human Rights Day on 10 December 2019.
Nominees can be individuals or organizations, who have made concrete and significant contributions to the advancement of democracy and human rights in Asia. Nominees should be those who have demonstrated long-term commitment to the cause of freedom in the Asian region.
Each nominee must be nominated in writing by at least 2 credible organizations or individuals from the field of democracy or human rights, who will have to support their nominations with details of the nominee’s achievements, commitment and leadership qualities, and where applicable, any unique reasons why the nominee should be given the Asia Democracy and Human Rights Award this year.
The application form is available online. Completed forms are to be sent by post, reaching the office of the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy by 30 June 2019.
