The University of Sussex Business School is making available 1 Sussex MBA Women Leaders Scholarship for women leaders from countries in South/Latin America, Africa and South-East Asia who wish to undertake the MBA programme commencing AY 2019/20.

The core modules of the MBA course in AY 2019/2020 are:

  • Applied Research Methods
  • Strategy
  • Accounting and Financial Management (MBA)
  • Economic, Social, Political and Cultural Environment – Understanding Business Environments
  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MBA)
  • Leadership and Personal Development
  • Managing Operations and Quality (MBA)
  • Managing People and Organisations
  • Marketing Management (MBA).

Optional modules are: Corporate Finance and Financial Markets; International Business; Management of Negotiation (MBA); and Strategic Information Systems and Data Analytics.

Benefits

The scholarship award is up to £14,300, which can be paid either towards tuition fees or as a combination of tuition fees and a stipend. Furthermore, the Sussex MBA Women Leaders Scholarship can be combined with other Sussex scholarships and overseas students can also apply for consideration for a Chancellors International Scholarship, which is worth 50% of tuition fees, and this would make the combined scholarship a full fee waiver plus a £3,388 stipend.

Eligibility

Eligible scholarship applicants are female students who are nationals of countries in South/Latin America, Africa or South-East Asia, who hold an offer of a place on the Sussex MBA. Their qualifications must exceed the normal Sussex MBA entry requirements: in particular, they must have more than 3-years of working in a high-profile or managerial role and have achieved the equivalent of a first class degree during their previous studies, in any degree.

Applications are also welcome from candidates who previously worked in leadership roles and who subsequently took a career break to raise children and now wish to return to work and/or studies.

Applicants for the Sussex MBA should have a lower second-class (2.2) undergraduate honours degree or above and must have at least 3 years management experience in a professional work environment.

Application

To gain a place on the Sussex MBA programme applicants have to first apply to the Sussex MBA, which application deadline is 1 August 2019 for international students and 1 September 2019 for UK/EU students.

Applicants have to lodge their interest in this scholarship during the written application process and during the general MBA interview. Applications for the scholarship would then have to be submitted by 30 September 2019.
