Type of Funding
Students from Sub-Saharan Africa who wish to apply for a TU Delft MSc programme at the Delft University of Technology commencing AY 2018, are invited to apply for the Sub-Saharan Africa Excellence Scholarships. Four such scholarships are made available each year. These scholarships aim to support capacity building in the Global South and to advance future leadership focusing on sustainable global development, as the UN Sustainable Development Goals are a guiding principle for the TU Delft.
Scholars will develop a MSc thesis topic which relates to the Sustainable Development Goals and TU Delft/Global Initiative.
The scholarship provides for full tuition fees for a TU Delft MSc programme and living expenses for 2 years. This amounts to €25,000 per year. Scholars will also become members of the Scholarship club, which gives them access to personal development opportunities, workshops, seminars, etc.
Scholars will also represent the university as ambassadors for Sub-Saharan Africa.
Applicants must be citizens of Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South-Sudan, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
They must be admitted to 1 of TU Delft’s MSc programmes with an accumulative grade point average (GPA) of 80 percent or higher of the scale maximum in their Bachelors degree. They also must possess a degree from an accredited university in 1 of the above-mentioned countries.
