Type of Funding
Mercy Corps offers internship opportunities all year round, with the greatest number in summer, for those aspiring to have a career in international relief and development. Internships are either based in the U.S. (U.S. Internships), or in field offices in Central America, Africa, Asia, Middle East, Central Asia, South East Asia, and the Balkans (Global Internships). U.S. assignments could be in Mercy Corps’ offices in Portland, Oregon; Washington, DC; Cambridge, Massachusetts; or Seattle, Washington. Currently there are 17 internships available around the world – in USA, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Jordan, East Timor, Nepal, Niger, and Uganda.
Currently available internships are in areas such as Humanitarian Program Development, Gender and Empowerment, Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture, Food Security, Policy and Advocacy, and Youth, Gender & Girls and Health, Nutrition and WASH.
Interns may be given reimbursements and stipend payments which are sponsored by grants from agencies (see specific internship postings on the Official Website for details). Mercy Corps generally contributes housing and in country travel expenses and emergency medical evacuation insurance to interns.
Eligible applicants are undergraduate and graduate students, recent graduates and individuals exploring a career shift and looking to gain experience with Mercy Corps. They should be individuals interested in careers in international relief and development and in gaining exposure to a full range of nonprofit management issues
