Kiva is inviting individuals looking to begin a career in international development, microfinance or non-profits, to apply for its 6-month internship program for July 2017 to January 2018. The internship will commence 6 July 2017 and end on 19 January 2018. They will work mostly on a part-time basis of average of 3 days per week, for a committed 6-month period.
Interns are placed with teams in Kiva’s offices in San Francisco or New York in the U.S., based on their strengths, skills and career goals. Teams include:
- Program Management
- Marketing and Communications
- Community Support
- Product Management
- People & Culture
- Microfinance Partnerships
- Engineering, and
- Business Strategy & Operations
With 2 rolling classes each year, Kiva hires over 20 part-time interns annually.
Kiva Internships are unpaid, but a modest monthly stipend of US$80/month is provided to help offset daily commute and travel costs. Kiva can arrange with academic institutions to authorize academic credits for the work.
Applicants can be recent college graduates or MBA students, those looking to change careers, or anyone who wishes to give back to society. They can be from anywhere in the world. College students may also apply if they are able to commit to the time. What is important is that Kiva is looking for applicants who: 1) can commit to the minimum time frame, 2) are flexible by nature, 3) are open to all types of projects, 4) are comfortable with administrative responsibility and 5) are looking to make a significant contribution in their time with Kiva.
