Description

Kiva are inviting people looking to begin a career in international development, microfinance or non-profits, to apply for its 6-month internship program commencing 10 July 2018 and ending 1 February 2019. They will work mostly on a part-time basis of average of 3 days per week, for a committed 6-month period.

Most internships are based out of Kiva’s office in San Francisco, USA. Several internships may also be available in Kiva’s offices in Oakland, San Jose, Portland, or New York City. Interns are placed with the following teams based on their strengths, skills and career goals:

  • Program Management
  • Marketing and Communications
  • Community Support
  • Product Management
  • Development
  • People & Culture
  • Microfinance Partnerships
  • Engineering, and
  • Business Strategy & Operations

With 2 rolling classes each year, Kiva hires over 20 part-time interns annually.

Benefits

Kiva Internships are unpaid, but a modest monthly stipend of US$80/month is provided to help offset daily commute and travel costs. Kiva can arrange with academic institutions to authorize academic credits for the work.

Eligibility

Applicants must be at least 21 years old and fluent in English. They can be recent college graduates or MBA students, those looking to change careers, or anyone who wishes to give back to society. They can be from anywhere in the world. College students may also apply if they are able to commit to the time. What is important is that Kiva is looking for applicants who: 1) can commit to the minimum time frame, 2) are flexible by nature, 3) are open to all types of projects, 4) are comfortable with administrative responsibility and 5) are looking to make a significant contribution in their time with Kiva.
