Type of Funding
The Seoul National University Human Rights Center is conducting its 6th International Winter Course, Human Rights and Asia 2019, from 7 to 18 January 2019 and scholarships are available for all selected participants. The special theme for the 2019 Winter Course is “Economic and Social Rights”. Activists, postgraduate students and researchers from around the world are invited to apply to attend the course to get a better understanding of human rights issues in Asia.
About 20 participants will be chosen for the course.
Topics covered include (amongst others):
- Gender Equality and Women’s Socio-Economic Rights
- Global Health Inequality
- The Role of Public Interest Litigation in Advocating Economic and Social Rights
- Human Rights Responsibility of Corporations
Airfare to Seoul, Republic of Korea, and return will be provided if applicable. Visa expenses as well as on-campus accommodation will be covered as well. But stipends, breakfasts, and dinners during the weekdays and meals during the weekend are not provided.
Applicants should be postgraduate students, junior researchers, activists, lawyers and national and international civil servants from all around the world highly initerested in human rights and Asia, and the special theme for the 2019 course – economic and social rights. As the course is taught in English, English proficiency is required. Participants will be selected to ensure diversity in terms of professional and academic background, region and field of interests.
