The Government of Finland is inviting nominations of individuals and organisations that have advanced gender equality in a globally significant way, for the International Gender Equality Prize 2019. The Prize aims to help in efforts made to advance gender equality around the world. The prize will be awarded in cooperation with the City of Tampere.
The Prize is awarded once every 2 years.
The winner will receive €300,000. The recipient will not be awarded the prize money; instead they have to assign the money to a cause the winner has chosen that strengthens the position of girls and women.
Nominees should be people and organisations that have promoted gender equality in an internationally recognised way. Nominees can be of any nationality. Anyone is welcome to propose a candidate to the prize jury for consideration.
Nominations are to be done online by 31 December 2018.
