The University of Oregon is offering the International Cultural Service Program (ICSP) Scholarships to international students who demonstrate financial need and exceptional merit, for AY 2019-20. The ICSP scholarship has a cultural service component that requires the scholars to give presentations about their home country to children, community organizations, and UO students, faculty, and staff. They have to complete 80 hours per year of cultural service, which could include speaking or giving demonstrations to schools or community groups about the heritage and culture of their country or participating in international events on campus.
ICSP scholars receive a tuition-waiver scholarship ranging from partial to full tuition for up to 15 non-resident academic credits per term per year. ICSP scholarships are renewable and the scholarship amount will remain consistent each term.
Applicants for the scholarship must first apply for admission to the University of Oregon. Applicants must be admissible or fully admitted to the University of Oregon. Applicants must have financial need, experience participating in cultural activities, demonstrated performance and presentation skills and strong academic records. They must meet the minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA requirement. They also need to have strong communication skills as they must have the ability to make presentations to diverse groups of people.
Applicants cannot be U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or people eligible to receive U.S. federal financial assistance.
New students must apply for admission to the University of Oregon for AY 2019-20 by 15 January 2019. Applications for the scholarships are to be done online by 1 February 2019.
