Type of Funding
The University of Glasgow is offering 4 Humanitarian Scholarships (1 per college) and 4 Refugee Scholarships for both undergraduate and postgraduate students staying in the UK on humanitarian or refugee status, who wish to apply for admission to the University in AY 2019/20. The scholarships are offered to help such individuals to overcome their challenges in progressing onto Higher Education.
The Humanitarian Scholarship provides for full tuition fee waiver, a yearly stipend of £4,000 and accommodation costs for the duration of study (University of Glasgow accommodation only).
The Refugee Scholarship award is a yearly £5000 stipend to help towards living costs per year of study.
Eligible applicants are those who hold a firm conditional or unconditional offer for study at the University of Glasgow for 2019/20 and who have submitted, or are the dependants of people who have submitted, an application to the UK Home Office for recognition as a Refugee under the 1951 UN Convention on the Status of Refugees but who have not yet received a decision from the Home Office on that application. Those who have been offered leave to remain in the UK on the grounds of Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights or under Paragraphs 276ADE – 276DH of the UK Immigration Rules are also eligible for the scholarships, provided that the students have not become eligible for Student Support from the relevant student funding body in Scotland, England, Wales or Northern Ireland.
Applications are to be done online by 30 June 2019.
