Type of Funding
The Entrepreneurship Campus, an activity within the UNESCO Global Action Programme (GAP) on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), is inviting entrepreneurs from around the world above the age of 36, to submit ideas or projects with a societal impact, which champion and implement 1 or more of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), for the Entrepreneurship Campus General Competition 2019.
Entries can be submitted for any of the following 2 categories:
- Best Ideas Category: Entries should consist of innovative solutions or propositions for enterprises that champion the SDGs. They can be for the conceptual, planning, or start-up stage, and can be ideas and plans that are to be implemented either by the entrant or by others.
- Best Projects Category: Entries should consist of innovative projects run by existing enterprises in the form of businesses, NGOs or informal programs, that have demonstrated social impact.
Entries that have passed the preliminary screening will be published on the competition website by the users and may receive comments and recommendations from the Entrepreneurship Campus online community. Starting from 15 May 2019, the general public can vote for its favorite entries and add their comments and recommendations. Entrants may refine their entries up until the entry deadline of 31 July 2019 to reflect the comments and recommendations received. Contestants may also support their entries by submitting a video presentation of maximum 3 minutes, of their idea or project.
There will be a Grand Prize, 2nd Prize, 3rd Prize and People’s Choice Prize winner for each of the 2 categories.
Grand Prize winners and the People’s Choice Prize winners will receive a virtual Gold Badge and a Certificate. Second Prize winners will receive a virtual Silver Badge and a Certificate. Third Prize winners will receive a virtual Bronze Badge and a Certificate. Finalists not chosen as prize winners will receive an Honorable Mention Badge. Entrepreneurship Campus Prize winners will receive a Certificate Campus Prize Winner Badge.
Grand Prize, People’s Choice, Second Prize, Third Prize, and the Entrepreneurship Campus Prize winners will be announced at a Winners’ Announcement Ceremony at the Entrepreneurship Summit in Berlin in October 2019.
Both entrepreneurs and those aspiring to be entrepreneurs are eligible, so long as they are above the age of 36. They have must either an innovative idea for an enterprise which contributes to the SDGs, or are operating such an enterprise in the form of a business, a non-profit organization or an informal program. Entries have to be submitted in English.
Submission of entries commenced on 18 March 2019, online voting and commenting began on 15 May 2019 and the final online submission for entries is 31 July 2019.
