Type of Funding
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is inviting applications from young professionals interested in a career in international development, for its 2017 Young Professionals Program. Selected Young Professionals will be offered a 3-year fixed term appointment to work in ADB’s Budget, Personnel, and Management Systems Departments at its headquarters in Manila, Philippines.
They will then assigned to another department/office as a rotational assignment for 12 months. YPs will provide assistance in executing ADB’s main instruments comprising loans, technical assistance, grants, advice, and knowledge.
The YPs receive international staff salaries at Level 1 (starting at US$79,000 in 2016) during their first year and at Level 2 (at least US$87,700 in 2016) during their second and third years in the program. Once they graduate, their pay reaches Level 3 (a minimum of US$97,700 in 2016). They are also entitled to health and life insurance, educational support, relocation assistance and retirement benefits.
Applicants must be from an ADB member country (see the Official Website for ADB member countries) who are not more than 32 years of age. They must possess a university degree in economics, finance, business administration, engineering, the environment, social sciences, public policy, or other areas relevant to ADB’s work.
Applicants need to have at least 2 years of relevant professional experience in any of the following fields: agriculture, rural development and food security, education, energy, environment, financial sector development, gender equity, governance and public management, health, public-private partnership, regional cooperation and integration, social development and poverty, transport, urban, water and operations. They need to have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and must be able to work with others of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds.
